It\u2019s important that the message is not one of deprivation. It\u2019s the time to show that when healthy foods are chosen, 1) I\u2019m not as hungry, 2) quantities don\u2019t matter if I am eating natural foods and 3)sugar cravings can be conquered!<\/p>\n<p>GET EXCITED!<\/p>\n<p>Be your own best cheerleader! If possible, also have another family member (spouse, oldest child) be an excited advocate for the new food being presented. \u201cOh wow, we\u2019re eating miniature trees tonight! This broccoli tastes delicious!\u201d Or in reference to millet, \u201cHey, this is just like couscous which you guys love!\u201d Get the idea?<\/p>\n<p>TEACH THEM HOW TO SAVOR FOOD:<\/p>\n<p>A special food is something to put in your mouth, let it stay there and melt and allow the tongue to really catch all the flavors and deliciousness. Teach them that if I really savor my food, one or two bites of that special sweet, that\u2019s all I need to be satisfied!
